Position Summary
The Membership-Marketing Coordinator (MMC) will implement membership recruitment strategies and renewal processes and will communicate the value of TESOL membership to current and potential members of the association. The MMC will work closely with the Director, Marketing and Communications, and Marketing Coordinator to develop and implement data-driven customer journeys and identify meaningful customer segments.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Update and distribute member renewal and welcome messages.
- With the Director, develop an annual member recruitment and retention calendar and messaging to meet membership targets.
- Assist TESOL’s efforts to increase awareness and usage of TESOL’s services, resources, and educational programs and events.
- Work with the Manager of Member Engagement to develop messaging that drives member engagement.
- Assist with communications to members related to their benefits and the association.
- Assist with various leader communications and invitations.
- Focus on the purchasing process with an eye on the customer experience.
- Work with TESOL’s member services representatives to ensure they have the information and support needed to provide a positive customer experience.
- Write and edit creative and engaging promotional copy for campaign materials including emails, newsletters, print and digital advertisements, web copy, and more as needed.
- Assist in developing digital ad campaigns, including Google Ads.
- Arrange media and ad buys and continually seek out new opportunities.
- Design and create print and digital promotional material as needed.
- Participate as part of the social media team, as needed.
- With the Head of Operations, staff TESOL’s membership professional council.
- Perform website updates as needed.
Qualifications of the Position
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of two years working in a membership or marketing environment, preferably with a nonprofit.
- Direct experience writing, editing, or producing online content or other promotional information and printed materials.
- Knowledge of and/or experience using email marketing platforms, social media, and design applications like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks or projects effectively, adapt to changing priorities, and demonstrate good organization and follow-up capabilities.
- Excellent computer skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Membership and/or engagement management system (database) experience a plus.
