The English Language Support Specialist will assist students who are actively seeking to improve their English language proficiency as a foundation for successful academic performance. This individual will implement the English language support program and expand its depth and breadth through curricular and course development. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to being a key resource for students, staff and faculty related to learning and teaching skills necessary for English language acquisition and coordinating with other campus services to determine student needs. The individual who holds this position will facilitate placement testing, advise a small number of students, teach English language support courses, and facilitate alternative activities to promote English language learning, which may include working in a distance learning format. Demonstrating a commitment to holistic student success and high-quality service as a member of a collaborative team is expected. This 10-month position has an expected work obligation of mid-August to mid-June and is situated in the Learning Center, which focuses on providing resources to help students become more confident in their learning.
