In some circumstances, an FBI fingerprint report may be necessary to satisfy the requirement. Once employed, employees must hold and continue to maintain a favorable criminal history background. Random background checks are performed. Credit checks may be performed on candidates/employees who are selected for a position that regularly engages in handling credit cards or other company monies. A Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) may be performed during the hiring process, or as part of a random check. MVR checks are required to meet insurance requirements for those employees operating a university vehicle or participating in any driving activity on behalf of Brenau University, (including operating a golf cart, rented vehicle or one”s personal vehicle). Employees who travel must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid Georgia driver”s license, and good driving record. Work Hours:
Full-time. 37.5 hours per week. Generally, Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. Hours may be extended to meet the needs of the department.
Environmental and Working Conditions/ Physical Demands and Aptitudes:
Mostly Sedentary work. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment related to teaching. Prolonged periods sitting and standing. Worker is required to have close visual acuity to grade papers, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Must have the ability to travel short distances, and/or drive a vehicle to deliver and pick up materials. Exerting up to 15 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. or Ed.D. in TESOL, applied linguistics, or a closely related field, or Ph.D. or Ed.D. in an educational leadership related field with M.A. in TESOL or applied linguistics
- Seven years of relevant teaching experience with English Language Learners
- Three years of English language program administration
- Successful record of developing new initiatives and/or programs
- Experience in higher education administration
- Knowledge of basic theories and principles of leadership and management
- Knowledge of immigration requirements for F1 students
- Citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States of America
- Thorough knowledge of and experience with CEA or other language program accreditation
Responsibilities:
Academic
- Oversee and supervise all academic matters in the program, including teacher training, instructional plans, instructor assignments, class schedules, and others
- Maintain detailed records of student academic progress, attendance, and remediation
- Supervise faculty and academic staff professional development
- Supervise and mentor new and existing academic faculty and staff and conduct systemic performance evaluation
- Forecast, monitor, and plan faculty and academic staff short- and long-term needs and recruitment
- Maintain knowledge of up-to-date trends and best practices in the field and diffuse it to key faculty and staff through professional development
- Assess and evaluate instruction in the program and ensure it aligns with Brenau University and English Language Institute mission statements, teaching philosophy and approach
- Lead program development, review, and planning regularly and monitor achievement of strategic academic goals
- Communicate new policies and decisions to the responsible implementing parties
- Provide for adequate training for the implementation of new programs and determine what kind of training is needed
- Be aware of and address complaints (and strengths and opportunities) about program practices
- Provide regular status reports to the Executive Director of Academic Initiatives and Student Success
Strategic planning
- Understand and uphold the Brenau University Vision, Values, and Mission
- Recommend policies and ensure that policies are aligned with the mission statement
- Participate in strategic and operation planning through assessment and continuous improvement processes
- Evaluate academic faculty and staff performance
- Ensure academic resources are sufficient and are allocated effectively to achieve strategic goals
Accreditation
- Understand and uphold CEA standards and ensure operations of all ELI programs meet accreditation standards
- Evaluate daily practices and the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with accreditation standards
Facilities, equipment and supplies
- Forecast the short- and long-term needs of facilities, equipment, and supplies
- Plan and implement action to supply the institute with the necessary projected equipment and supplies
- Plan and maintain a budget for the needed facilities, equipment and supplies
- Utilize and manage reasonable budget for all ELI programs
- Monitor and maintain records of budget use
Interdepartmental collaboration
- Maintain strong professional relationships and collaboration with Enrollment Management, the Miller Institute for Global Education, and other offices on campus
Marketing and recruiting
- Reach out to local and regional educational institutions, recruiting agencies, and government departments to establish relationships and form partnerships
- Attend local and national events and conferences to market ELI programs and services
- Engage in continuous conversations with potential scholarship sponsors to recruit students
Admissions and Immigration-Related Duties
- Supervise/guide correspondence with applicants and accepted students
- Coordinate with Enrollment Management to ensure admissions policies are followed
- Make final admissions decisions to ELI programs
- Train, certify, and serve as a designated school official
- Work with the Miller Institute for Global Education and especially the PDSO for I-20 issuance, upkeep of SEVIS records, new International Student onboarding protocols, services and support.
