The Adult Education Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of non-credit adult basic education programs and services sponsored and supported by the College in conjunction with the Director of Workforce and Career Solutions.

Qualifications:
  1. Educational Background: M.A. in education related field required. Certified and trained in TESL.
  2. Skills: Minimum of three years� experience with diagnosis, testing, and instruction for adult basic education students, specifically working with ABE/HSE/ESL and family literacy programs. Knowledge and experience with state and federal reporting systems required. Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, writing, computer, and leadership skills. Requires travel to surrounding counties, including evenings.

Specific Responsibilities:
  1. Develop a three-week pre-GED program and implement with the Admissions office.
  2. Recruit students for the program through newspaper, public service announcements, mailings, outreach to area agencies and school districts.
  3. Work directly with interested parties (such as potential students, schools, and agencies) to advise them of available educational options.
  4. Recruit, hire and supervise instructors and staff in conjunction with the Director of Workforce and Career Solutions. Maintain an active substitute list to ensure no interruption in classes.
  5. Prepare standard faculty contracts.
  6. Evaluate instructors through classroom visitations and ensure accuracy and timeliness in the submission of required paperwork.
  7. Support staff development through providing opportunities for attendance at New York State sponsored workshops as well as in-house training.
  8. Assist in the development of the College budget as it pertains to the Adult Basic Education
    program.
  9. Prepare grant proposals and administer grant funding in conjunction with pertinent College offices.
  10. Order materials and equipment for classes as needed.
  11. Supervise the collection and maintenance of data needed for New York State and other funding agency reports.
  12. Prepare reports required by New York State and other funding agencies, ensuring the program stays compliant with current regulations.
  13. Prepare a yearly report to be submitted to the Director of Workforce and Career Solutions.
  14. Form partnerships with other area literacy providers such as LVA, BOCES, DSS, Workforce Development and other community agencies.
  15. Supervise and coordinate distance learning initiatives.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Workforce and Career Solutions.

Benefits and Salary Range
  1. Competitive starting salary in the range of $58,059 to $68,385 and is commensurate with qualifications
