The English faculty at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professors of English specializing in Creative Writing beginning August 2025. We seek applicants with an emphasis in either Fiction or Creative Non-Fiction.
This year, TAMU-CC”s College of Liberal Arts is making efforts to hire in support of cultural studies programming across different disciplines.
Teaching expectations will include a 3/3 course load comprising upper-division courses in creative writing, first-year writing courses, and other courses in the candidate”s specialization. Candidates will also have the opportunity to offer graduate courses and mentor students in the department”s English MA program. Candidates should demonstrate experience in onsite and online course delivery. We strongly encourage applications from candidates who can demonstrate through their scholarship, teaching, and/or service that they can contribute to our university's mission as a Hispanic and Minority Serving Institution.

- One faculty line is in Creative Writing (fiction or creative non-fiction) with a background in Black Studies. This line is part of a Black Studies cluster hire in the College of Liberal Arts, and the faculty member will have the opportunity to teach courses that contribute to that program.
- One faculty line is in Creative Writing (fiction or creative non-fiction) with a background in Mexican American Studies. This line will be a joint appointment with the Mexican American Studies program and will have the opportunity to teach courses that contribute to that program (at least one course per year or more).

- MFA or PhD in Creative Writing or a closely related field, such as English with a Creative Writing emphasis. Advanced ABT/ABD will be considered; (degree must be conferred at the time of appointment).
- Demonstrated teaching experience in Fiction or Creative Non-Fiction as well as Black Studies or Mexican American Studies.
- Demonstrated scholarly/creative activity in Fiction or Creative Non-Fiction as well as Black Studies or Mexican American Studies.
- Demonstrated teaching experience in First-Year writing courses.
- Demonstrated evidence of an ability to teach in face-to-face and online modalities.
Preferred qualifications
- Demonstrated evidence of culturally responsive pedagogy, especially in the context of a regional university designated as a Hispanic and Minority Serving Institution.
- Experience teaching and advising first-generation students and historically underserved communities.
- Demonstrated evidence of editorial experience with a literary journal or press.
