Job DescriptionJob DescriptionJOB SUMMARY: Under the general direction of the Director of the Adult Learning Center the position will provide instruction, develop course syllabi, and maintain required files for adults whose first language is not English.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- To understand and commit to the Mission of the College ~ To provide challenging and diverse opportunities for the pursuit of learning and to enhance personal and community development in a responsible, accessible and learner-centered environment.
- Develop lesson plans and course syllabi that follow the PAM Model used in adult education
- Assist in the enrollment of program participants during orientation times scheduled throughout the school year including pre-test administration and scoring
- Maintain accurate participant files and data for federal and state reporting purposes including program participant goals, citizenship, employment goals, technology gains, post-secondary education goals, and educational gains
- Counsel participants on a regular basis to maintain student goal sheets
- Work with transition specialist and campus personnel to move participants from the Adult Learning Center to the main Dodge City Community College campus as students
- Report student hours in a timely manner to the data entry specialist
- Attend periodic staff meetings and appropriate staff development activities
- Participate in student follow surveys and post-testing
- Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor”s degree
- Teaching experience in education, adult education, special education, developmental education or a related field
- Available to teach evenings
- Willingness to work with low-level learners
- Ability to work patiently with adult students and those who do not speak English fluently
- Must maintain a valid Kansas driver”s license
- Proven ability to work with diverse populations including traditional and non-traditional students
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual abilities in Spanish and English helpful
- Master”s Degree

Physical Requirements: With or without assistance
- Ability to lift and carry 35 pounds over 25 feet.
- Ability to hear informational speaker in conversational voice at a distance of 10 ft. and on telephone.
- Ability to speak clearly and audibly to others at 10 ft distance and on the telephone.
- Ability to stretch, bend, stoop, and kneel as required to perform the duties of this position.
- Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time.
