Full-time ESOL Project Coordinator position

The Center for Family Life in Sunset Park is seeking a Program Coordinator/ESOL Instructor to provide support and coordination for the Adult Literacy Program located at a migrant shelter in Midtown Manhattan.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Designing and executing outreach, recruitment, screening, pre-assessment, and enrollment of new applicants to meet program goals
  • Conducting intake and assessments (English language testing (BEST Plus)
  • Collaborating with ESL instructors on curriculum design, scheduling, assessment, and classroom performance to ensure successful student outcomes.
  • Providing case management to students which includes creating individual training plans, addressing barriers, referrals to social services, and observing confidentiality.
  • Identifying and establishing reciprocal referral relationships with other training providers, social service agencies, and local immigrant organizations to meet students” needs.
  • Participating in funder update meetings and reporting activities,
  • Ensuring student records are complete for audit.
  • Managing database system ensuring all student data is entered timely and accurately
  • The coordinator might be asked to cover classes for teachers when necessary

Desired Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a bachelor”s degree (B.A.) required, preferably in Education, ESL, TESOL, English, or a related area, and at least 2 years of relevant teaching experience
  • Bilingual English/Spanish with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working in program coordination (scheduling, staffing, etc.) preferred
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, some evening hours will be required
  • Able to travel between sites in Brooklyn and Manhattan
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and demonstrated willingness to take initiative and assume other responsibilities as needed

This is a full-time position, 35 hours per week.

Salary: $45,000 with benefits [Medical, dental, vision, 403(b) Retirement plan, PTO, and other voluntary benefits]
